The IPS Alliance is a collaborative initiative of principals from Queensland's 250 Independent Public Schools (IPS).
Our mission is:
- leading our communities to make a difference
- inspiring a culture of collaboration and innovation
- embracing evidence to improve student learning, equity and wellbeing.
'The power of effective networks lies not only in their potential to improve teaching and learning in schools, but more importantly, in their power to become forces of positive change of entire systems.'
Rincón-Gallardo & Fullan, 2016
Essential features of effective networks in education
Core purpose
Our purpose is to facilitate collaboration, celebrate and share our learnings, and harness our collective capacity to influence system change and benefit all schools in Queensland.
To achieve this, the Alliance is committed to 3 goals:
-
Strengthening partnerships and contributing to a powerful force for system-wide improvement
- Empowering leadership and learning through meaningful collaboration within and between schools
- Leading innovation and sharing evidence based practice in schools
Policy framework
Our work embraces the goals for IPS outlined in the Department of Education's Strategic Plan 2017–21 and the IPS Policy framework.
'We will create a culture of innovation and continual improvement to lift outcomes through a focus on the skills of leaders across the system.'
- IPS are a catalyst for positive system wide change that leads to improved services and learning outcomes for all state school students.
- IPS have the capacity to—and are expected to—innovate, trial and share good practice across the state school system.
- IPS individually and collectively contribute to improvement across the system.
